Cutter sticks extend the life of cutter blades

Cutter sticks provide support for the cut sheets while offering a relatively soft surface for the expensive cutter knife to contact during normal cutting operation, rather than the steel work surface. This protects the knife edge while producing a clean cut down to the last sheet. Over time, the cutter stick will develop a deep groove. When the groove becomes too deep, the bottom sheets of paper may not cut cleanly.

You can flip the cutter stick to present a smooth face, but when all four sides are worn, it must be replaced to continue making clean cuts. Always keep a few on hand to maintain your paper cutter.
